CB 13 Expedition

Mt. Chandra Bhaga – 13 (CB 13) is located centrally in the Lahaul valley and part of the magnificent Chandra Bhaga range in the Batal region of Himachal Pradesh. It stands tall at 6264 mts (20,551 mts). This peak is perfect for a mountaineer aspiring to summit over the 6,000 mts mark. The peak offers a magnificent view of Kunzum Range, Chandrataal Lake, and the Dhaka Glacier. It
lies in the unexplored and silent region of Chandra Bhaga range and Chandertaal lake in Spiti valley. The approach to CB 13 starts from Batal. One can clearly view the massive Bara Shigri glacier across the valley. Base camp is little above a glacier. The route for the climb is heavily crevassed slope which moves onto the right ridge of the mountain the attempt to the summit is made from here.
The summit of this peak present to you fantastic views of the entire Kunzum range, the Chandra Tal lake and the gushing Chandra River. Known to be the best peak to climb in this region of Himachal Pradesh, Mt. CB 13 expedition is meant only for experienced trekkers and aspiring mountaineers who wish to take it up a notch and experience a thrilling climb to the summit.

ITINERARY


Day – 01: Manali

Arrive in Manali and meet our team. We will get you checked-in to a hotel. Relax while we take care of the official formalities. Meanwhile, there will be an introduction and briefing session. We will check and divide the equipment required for the expedition. Enjoy the rest of the evening exploring Manali.


Day – 02: Manali to Batal

Today we will leave early and drive to Batal from Manali. It will take a total of 6-8 hours to reach Batal. The lovely views of the Spiti valley will keep you company. We will pitch tents in Batal. Have dinner and overnight in tents.

  • Start after breakfast.
  • Will cross the highest tunnel (Atal Tunnle)
  • Arrive at Batal and overnight stay at tent.

Day – 03: – Batal – Acclimatization Day

This is a day when we take a hike , walk around and acclimatize and prepare ourselves for the upcoming challenges on the trek. Night we stay at Batal only and recheck the trek essentials and plan.

  • Wake up early in the morning at go for a walk along with Chandra River.
  • You get a glimpse of CB 13 and Cb14 peak. Go for a hike around a hillock.
  • Overnight stay at tents.

Day – 04:- Batal to SASE

We today will start our trek from Batal to the base camp which will be near SASE (Snow Avalanche Study Establishment). The toughest of today will be crossing the Batal Nallah which surprise with the fast flowing water. Once you reach the Base Camp there will be briefing session on the use of equipment, self-arrest techniques, ascending and descending techniques. Have dinner and retire for the night. Overnight stay in tents.

  • Move ahead towards the Base camp.
  • Crossing over the Batal Nallah.
  • Campsite near SASE (Snow Avalanche Study Establishment).
  • Dinner and overnight stay at camp.

Day – 05:- SASE to Base Camp

Healthy breakfast will energies you for the day trek today to advance base camp which will be close to the Dhaka Glacier. You shall not feel tiring as the valley will keep you engage with its stunning views during trek. We will reach Advance Base camp by late afternoon and overnight stay at camp.

  • Trek up on the Dhaka Glacier.
  • Camp and overnight stay at Advance Base Camp

Day – 06: – Base Camp to Advance Base Camp

Today we will load ferry from Base Camp to ABC and return back to Base Camp where we rest for the night.

  • After breakfast we will load ferry.
  • Shifting from Base camp to Advance Base camp.
  • Back to Base camp and rest.

Day – 07:- Advance base camp to C1
| 4-6 hrs | 5300 mtrs |
We will load the essential and ferry up to the C1 and back to ABC and rest. Saving your energy is the biggest success to achieve what we have aimed for.

  • After breakfast we will load ferry.
  • Shifting from Base camp to Advance Base camp.
  • Back to Advance Base camp and rest.

Day – 08:- C1 to Summit Camp

Here what takes a minute planning in the ferrying essentials to the summit camp? Load ferrying to the summit camp. Reserve a day for summit climb if the weather does not allow you to summit the day before. Back to C1 and proper rest.


Day – 09:- C1 to Summit Camp to Peak attempt and back to ABC

Today we make an attempt to the Peak summit push by early morning if weather allows. Once we have summited the CB 13 peak, rejoice the moment and make your way down to ABC. Overnight in ABC. If summit is not done then we will come back to Summit camp and rest. Prepare for the second attempt which is going to be next morning.


Day – 10:- Advance base camp to Manali (Travel by Road)

The final leg of the trek is here, we trek back to Batal. We then drive back to Manali.

  • Reach at Manali.
  • Success party and Bid adieu.
