About the Pin Bhaba Trek
We descend down to Barua village while the treeline welcomes you back at lower elevations. On arrival at the village, we say goodbye to Buran as we drive back to Shimla. The trek ends in Shimla with summit certificates and unforgettable memories.
The resilient mountain desert of Pin Valley in Spiti. Bhabha or Bhawa Pass is a high mountain pass with an elevation of 16,125 ft, bordering the two contrasting districts of Himachal, making it a grand pass with a legacy that tells the tale of two valleys. Standing at the pass, one might find it difficult to absorb the strikingly different views on either side; a teleportation portal may sound more believable at that point. This trek is not just about the difference in landscape, but it also introduces you to two Himalayan cultures - the livelihoods, architecture, lifestyle, and more.

Itinerary
Our journey starts from the 'Queen of Hills' SHIMLA, which is also the
meeting point for all trekkers. We are headed to Kafnu, a small Kinnauri
Hamlet situated along a tributary of Sutlej and it acts as the base camp for
those headed towards the high mountain pass. The drive is beautiful as it
goes through coniferous forests, splendid valleys, majestic mountain views,
mega hydel plants and phenomenal Bhabha river. On arrival check into your
comfortable stay for tonight and get enough rest as the days ahead shall
need all your energy and enthusiasm.
Flag off day !!
As we start the trek, we say goodbye to Kafnu and head towards Mulling. We
shall cover
a distance of 11km today, partly hiking up a motorable road, followed by
trails throught
dense coniferous forests. The trek is a bit long but the mesmerizing views
of the Bhabha
river, Kafnu dam, wild rose bed patches in abundance welcoming you and the
freshness
in the air shall keep you thoroughly engaged till we reach our campsite at
Mulling.
We trek from Mulling to Karah gaining an elevation of around 1000ft and
covering a
distance of 6km. Today we shall witness the 'TRANSITION' Bhabha pass trek is
known
for, when we leave the forest behind and enter the landscspe of vast
meadows. We shall
witness beautiful small grasslands full of boulders, expansive meadows that
you have
never seen before, vibrant mules, grazing horses, large flocks of sheep with
their humble
shepherds, snow dappled mountains and stunning peaks adding beauty to the
journey.
Gear up for a challenging trek today as we are headed towards Phutsirang,
base of
Bhabha pass. We will cover a distance of 5km today but gain elevation to
13,450ft. The
trail is moderate with steep ascent throughout. We shall also experience
river crossing
today. The arrival at Phutsirang campsite, shall take away all tiredness of
the day as we
get a glimpse of Pin Bhabha in front of us along with two other peaks, Tari
Khango and
Nimish Khango.
Mountains in a way symbolise 'the state of being calm and still' which
eventually comes from being at peace.
Thus we halt today, spend some time with these mountains, hear what they
have to tell us, walk around, cook for our fellow trekkers, acclimatise at
this elevation an thus rest for the big day tomorrow. The intended calm
today shall help us in our quest for the coming day.
It 'D' day and its going to make every second worth it. Grab all your energy
bars as we start a long hectic day to cover a distance of 13km stretching
over 9+ hours via Pin Bhabha pass to Mangrungse on the other side. The trek
today would be through scree, glacier, and moraines, the best place for
ardent snow lovers to enjoy the dazzling views of snow wrapping around you
the phenomenal mountains of Spiti. The crossover shall leave you speechless.

We take the last lap of our trek today. We shall descend towards Mudh- a
quaint little
hamlet in Pin valley - from our campsite at Mangrungse. Pin river, various
streams,
colourful and changing landscapes, beautiful skies, stony paths, violet-hued
Summits will
make the journey stunning. On arrival in Mudh, we say goodbye to the Pin
Bhabha valley,
that showed us nature at its best for the past 6 days. Our transport
vehicles would drive
us to the Kaza, the hub of Spiti, where we celebrate the successful
crossover tonight.
As all things must come to an end, so does this unforgettable journey. We
drive from
Kaza to Manali where we part ways for now. All trekkers shall be dropped off
at a
convenient location.
