About the Rupin Pass Trek

Along the way, you’ll encounter alpine flora, cross thrilling bridges, and have the chance to connect with the local communities who inhabit the remote villages.

Itinerary

The journey begins from SHIMLA, the queen of hills, towards Chanshal Pass. The route for Chanshal goes via the serene villages of Rohru, where one gets to experience the traditional houses and village life of Himachal. On arrival in Larot village, hike upto Chanshal Pass and camp for the evening. Approximate hike distance 5km.

Today, we explore the beautiful setup of Dodra village, a traditional Himachali settlement. We start our vehicular journey from the base camp in Chanshal and halt at Dodra for an experiential walk around the village. Explore the resilient Kathkuni structures and village setup. Drive ahead upto the village of Jiskun from where we continue our journey on foot to Jakha. On arrival make yourself comfortable at the cozy homestay for tonight.

Today, the trail is 11 km long but not so complicated, and it will take us to an altitude of 11,680 meters to lower the waterfall in eight hours. The adventures today shall include crossing the Rupin River over a fallen Birch tree. Rhododendrons, in all its beauty in blue and pink colors, will be scattered all over the trek. The chirping of birds synchronizes with the sound of the Rupin River flowing beside the trek, making the arrival at Dhanderas Thach memorable. Camp at the meadows tonight.

Let's experience Rupin valley up close. This part of the trail is the most picturesque of the whole trek, ascending throughout but most rewarding. Hike up to the upper water fall, cross the snow bridge, be one with nature and exerience the spectacular view of Rupin valley from top. Roam around the valley and spend quality time there to get ready to cross Rupin Pass, further details shared for the next day's summit by the trek leader.

It is the most exciting day of the trek as we will attempt to cross Rupin Pass and proceed to Ronti Gad. The trek is quite steep, and 250 meters of Rupin Gully demands maneuverability. Rupin the beautiful pass shall reveal itself after a couple of hours of sweat. After crossing the pass one enters Sangla valley. Camp at Ronti Khad for tonight.

Today we descent to Sangla. The trail passes through green meadows, blue pine forest, and the view of stone structures coherently fused with the landscape. The trail descends till Sangla through Sangla Kanda. After arrival in Sangla we drive to Narkanda 160km away. Overnight stay at Narkanda

Today is the last leg of our journey.
Drive upto Shimla where all trekkers will be dropped at a convenient location.
