Itinerary

On arrival in Manali, check-in to your comfortable stay here and meet up with the WH team. The remaining day is yours to explore, rejuvenate, shop for any pending travel accessories and adjust to the weather conditions. Please note it is necessary to acclimatize to the cold weather and altitude of the region so that you are ready for the adventures in Zanskar.

Our journey begins early morning from Manali. On the way to JISPA, travel across the beautiful Solang valley followed by the engineering marvel that is Atal Tunnel to reach Lahaul region of Himachal. Drive along the beautiful Chenab river to reach Sissu and visit the scenic Sissu Lake. Drive through the scenic villages of Lahaul region to reach Jispa village, where we halt for tonight.

Today the actual adventure starts as we leave from Jispa and cross the majestic Shingo La pass where we crossover from Himachal and into Ladakh. Amaze at the the isolated marvel that is the most sacred mountain of Zanskar, the Gombok Rangjan. We drive along the glacial melt Khurgiak Chu stream deep into the valleys of Zanskar. Arrive at the small town of Purne and spend the night in this beautiful settlement.

It’s a long day today, so we start early. The trek to Phuktal Monastery, takes about 2hrs from Purne at an average pace. The Phuktal Gompa owes its legacy to powerful and renowned scholars and teachers who resided in the cave, around which the monastery has been built, and has for long been a place for retreat, meditation, learning, and teaching.
The architecture is bound to leave you awestruck, as the monastery complex seems to have risen from the landscape, in a cohesive harmony. Trek back to Purne, and continue the journey ahead to reach Padum, a Zanskari main town.

Once the capital of the ancient kingdom of Zanskar, Padum (3505 m) located at the centre of tri-armed Zanskar valley, is the present-day administrative centre of Zanskar. Lately, Padum has become famous as a major trekking base and home to numerous monasteries. Visit the beautiful Karsha Gompa, Sani Gompa, Zangla Palace(ruins) andt the waterfall a Shela Village. Spend the entire day around Padum town, also home to His Holiness Dalai Lama.

Drive towards Rangdum today. On the way come across the scenic Sani lake, cross over Pensi La Pass, and the largest glacier in Ladakh that is accessible by road, Drang Drung Glacier. Zanskar is known for its beautiful hidden blue water lakes, and we shall spot a few today. Visit the twin lakes, Lang Tso and Stat Tso creating spectacular scenic landscapes in the middle of nowhere. Reach Rangdum town and halt for the evening.

As we drive out of Zanskar valley today, stop to view Parkachik Glacier, snow-capped Nun- Kun massif, magnificent views of Suru Valley and marvel at the rock carving of standing Buddha near Kartse. Drive to Kargil, as we move out of Zanskar valley. On arrival in Kargil, check into your stay and evening to leisure as we spend our last night remembering the marvels of Zanskar and how the journey has unfolded.

As we leave Zanskar behind, drive towards Leh main town through Sham valley. Enjoy the drive along Indus River and reach Leh town. This will be the last leg of our journey and all travellers will be dropped here.

Cancellation Policy

  • If cancelled within 10 days – Full Retention
  • If cancelled before 20 days – 25 percent of the total cost
  • Full refund if cancelled before 30 days
